Why SkyGauge Exists

SkyGauge is a minimalist Apple Watch app designed to measure elevation change using the watch’s built-in barometric altimeter. As paramotor pilots, tracking altitude changes during flight can be useful not only for curiosity, but also for understanding climb performance and logging sessions.

Simple, Focused Altitude Tracking

Unlike full-featured flight instruments, SkyGauge focuses on one thing and does it well: relative altitude change. You define a starting point, and the app displays your elevation above or below that baseline. Units can be switched between feet and meters, and all interaction is optimized for quick, glance-based use.

Live Graphs and Session History

SkyGauge provides a real-time altitude graph along with rolling averages, allowing you to see how your elevation changes over time. Each session is recorded directly on the watch, including minimum and maximum values, so you can review previous flights without exporting data or syncing to a phone.

Designed Specifically for Apple Watch

The app runs entirely on the Apple Watch and does not require an iPhone connection during use. This makes it well suited for paramotoring, where minimizing cockpit clutter and distractions is important. The interface is clean, readable, and intentionally limited to essential information.
